Another UW-SPer and I were at Wisconsin Point from ~6:45am to 8:30am this morning. Although there were a lot of gulls, they were being lazy, so no jaegers were seen. I bumped into Joey Reichhoff and Terry Leasa there, in addition to someone who's name I forgot, and they stayed longer, so maybe they did end up seeing them. What we did see included the WESTERN GREBE and a somewhat distant RED-NECKED GREBE. No shorebirds were seen or heard, save for something that I'm guessing was a Sanderling that we spooked. A tundra subspecies Peregrine Falcon juvenile was caught at Hawk Ridge in Duluth, MN on 9/17 (yesterday). I hope there's better luck for the Jaegerfest attendees next weekend! Hello all! Since I will be working during Jaegerfest weekend, I decided to do my Wisconsin Point trip this weekend instead. Terry Leasa and I headed out early this morning and got to the point at sunrise. Within 10 minutes there was a juv Parasitic Jaeger flying over. During the few hours we were there, we had at least three different individuals. We also had a very close Peregrine Falcon dive after the gulls, a Merlin chasing a tree swallow, several Black-bellied and American Golden Plovers, dozens of Sanderlings, a Western Grebe (Thanks to Robbye Johnson showing up and finding a state bird for me!) and the highlight for sure was two BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS near parking lot #2. We could not find any Harris's Sparrows yet. Hopefully they will be there by next weekend for you all. We will probably be going up again tomorrow morning so we will keep you updated. Great birding today, Joey Reichhoff reporting from Barronett and Terry Leasa, Fond du Lac #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
