Crane count today at Van Patten road near Shiocton in Outagamie county.
Highlights, other than 59 cranes-good number of greater yellowlegs-5 trumpeter
swans-minimum of 36 white pelicans-wood ducks and yellow headed blackbirds are
back-calling leopard frogs-active bald eagle nest
The area north and east of the dike is perfect for yellowlegs and similar
shorebirds.
Can anyone comment on the effect that the pelicans will have on this wetland?
That is the largest number I have seen there and I think they have been there
only for the past few years.
