Alright, I may as well throw this out there. I heard a bird call today that I just can't figure out and it seems like I should be able to. The call itself was very owl-like and was 5 notes long. It was 5 "Hoo"s with the 4th being a higher note and the other 4 being the same. Hoo-Hoo-Hoo-Hoo-Hoo. I don't think that it was an owl, it just was similar to the "hoo" - and I have checked all of the possible owl calls, it doesn't seem to match any of them. The actual sound of the call wasn't as owl-like, as the owl calls are all pretty distinct. It wass the "hoo" part of it, if that makes any sense. Not much to go on, but I wanted to put it out to the list in case someone knows what this was. Thanks! Actually, while I'm at it, had a second call which sounded almost identical to the Pine Warbler call, but faster. If it wasn't for the speed of the call I would say there were quite a few pine warblers around.
