A few days ago, I posted a RFI re a few birds I needed. First, I want to
thank the multiple people who responded to my request. Paul Baughman invited
me to bird with him for a couple of hours on Tuesday. We teamed up to see all
the spp. I asked about and then some. When I say teamed up, I mean he found
all the birds and I looked at them. Along the entrance road to the HQ for the
N Unit of the Kettle Moraine, we found both pine and mourning warbler. By
Haskell Noyes, we saw Acadian flycatcher and heard a BB cuckoo. We saw alder
FC at the end of Halthauser (sp) Rd near New Prospect as well as RE vireo.
After Paul left, I found willow FC by the Mauthe L boat launch. On the way
home I checked out the auto loop at Horicon Marsh. In addition to observing 2
red-necked phalaropes, I ran into old friends Tom and Carol Sykes.
Earlier in the week, on Monday, I had 4 FOYs for my farm property near Leipsig.
I saw and heard both G crested FC (FOY) and yellow-billed cuckoo. Both have
summered at my farm for 10 or so years. Also new for the year was BB cuckoo
(heard only) and new for this location was E peewee.
Despite the crappy weather, I heard the YB cuckoo again today at my farm.
