Hi All, Eric Howe and I birded Racine's lakefront for a little while this morning. Highlights include a female SNOWY OWL that Eric spotted on the far breakwall of the Pugh Marina (originally it was north of the old lighthouse). While we were there it flew south and landed on the far south side of the marina on the rock breakwall. A Bald Eagle also flew over while we were there. We chuckled as we had just been talking about a Golden Eagle, but couldn't turn the Baldy into a Golden. :) At Myers park amongst many hundreds of primarily Herring Gulls and Canada Geese, we picked out two GREATER-WHITE FRONTED GEESE, two SNOW GEESE, and two CACKLING GEESE. The Festival Park Lagoon/boat launch also hosted a Ruddy Duck amongst other usual winter ducks. Common Goldeneye, Hooded Mergansers, Common Mergansers, RB Mergansers, Greater Scaup, Coots, and Bufflehead were amongst the ducks we spotted. Good Birding!
