Early this afternoon I went to look for the Say's Phoebe. It was my third
try. I parked on the cul-de-sac on Pheasant Lane, walked through the woods
on the right path and immediately upon coming out of the woods I saw 4 or 5
phoebes working the lake shoreline right there. Within a minute or two I
picked out the Say's. For a while it was repeatedly perching on a short
dead snag next to a tall dead tree. The orangey belly was evident
immediately. It was nice having several Eastern's in the immediate area for
comparison. Thanks to everyone who kept posting updates on this bird. I
also had my FOY ruby-crowned kinglet there. As I was leaving the Goose Lake
area I checked my phone and saw Steve Thiessen had reported a Forsters tern
and 2 purple martins at Fish Camp Lake Kegonsa. It was pretty much on my
way so I stopped. Missed the martins but had a close flyby of the Forster's
tern. Thanks Steve for rerporting that.
