Just a reminder that gun deer season opens for most of the state this Saturday (Nov. 19) and runs through Sunday Nov. 27. Some state parks and wildlife refuges may be partially or fully open for hunting and closed to other uses for safety reasons (Lion's Den Preserve in Ozaukee County, for example, along with much of Horicon Marsh.) You can check the regulations at this link: http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/wildlife/hunt/regs/ (warning, it's a big pdf file, although you can also just download sections. Most of the pertinent info about which state parks are open, etc. is on pages 39 and after.) You can check which areas of Horicon NWR are open/closed to hunting here: http://www.fws.gov/midwest/horicon/hunting.html And last, most hunting seasons (except waterfowl) are suspended on Friday Nov. 18 (that's tomorrow,) so get out and enjoy the warm southwest winds and find some more vagrants!
