I was up north this past weekend visiting friends in the Mountain/Lakewood
area. They had at least 200 Common (and a handful of Hoary?) Redpolls on and
below their 6 thistle feeders, as well as a couple dozen Pine Siskins and one
Purple Finch. What a sight for 2 days-rarely have I seen birds like this so
numerous that they looked like leaves blowing around the yard! I am pretty sure
we saw 5-6 Fox Sparrows dart across the road as we left.
