The migration over NW Wisc was indeed quite heavy last night. Check out this early morning loop; note the swarms of migrants concentrating on the south shore and then coming off of Lake Superior heading well inland until just after 13:00 UTC http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/radar/displayRad.php?icao=KDLH&prod=bref1&bkgr=black&endDate=20090910&endTime=14&duration=4 John I, Milwaukee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ryan Brady" <ryanbrady10@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: wisbirdn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 10, 2009 11:38:50 AM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central Subject: [wisb] Re: Radars are lit up this morning There was a massive migration here in Bayfield County that continued well into this morning. From my yard at my new house near Washburn (only about a mile from the L. Superior shoreline), I saw literally hundreds if not thousands of warblers flying overhead between 6:45 and 10:15 am. Some were still migrating when I finally left. It was awesome even if I could only identify a tiny fraction of what was flying by. Among them were good numbers of Swainson's Thrushes, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Cedar Waxwings, Purple Finches, some Bobolinks, and others. My new yard isn't a very good foraging site but I squeaked out 15 warbler species overall.
