Yesterday and today, I had the chance to go to Veteran' Park. My goal was to
see how many Night Herons were present (earlier in the week there were 6).
And, to see if I could find the Green Heron with breeding plumage.

I only spotted 2 Black-crowned Night Herons. I didn't find the Green Heron on
either day.

The light for photography was great. I know these are all pretty common birds,
but, I was quite please with some of the photos. If you want to see all the
photos, start with the first link, and hit the [Older] button 23 times, or
until you get to the Egret photos.

Yellow-rumped Warbler. First of the year for me. I like ow the photos
captured differences.

Horned Grebe. Yesterday, one particular bird swam right past me as I patiently
sat near the shoreline of the lagoon. It was about 10 feet away.

Red-winged Blackbird. Most of my female photos are rather dull and
uninteresting. I was pleased with the composition of this photo

White-winged Scoter. There were several females. Today, I spotted a male for
the very first time.
Male & two females:

Red-breasted Merganser. The first couple photos show a male doing battle with
his catch of the day - a larger crayfish. I think the crayfish survived to see
another day. The female was rather nice. She has been sitting in the same
spot both times I walked past.

Scaup. I don't seem to have much luck getting nice scaup photos. This is a
decent one:

Unknown Hawk flew across the laggon and into the trees on the other side of the
road.
