All,

Early this morning I observed via NexRad that the rain would taper off
around 6:00AM, so I decided to lead the Madison Audubon field trip at
Pheasant Branch Conservancy. Fortunately, several birders didn't use the
Internet last night to read my cancelation notice and enjoyed:

Wood Duck, Great Horned Owl, Eastern Phoebe, Great Crested Flycatcher,
Yellow-throated Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher, Veery, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Wood Thrush, Gray Catbird, Brown
Thrasher, Tennessee Warbler, Nashville Warbler, Yellow Warbler,
Chestnut-sided Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler,
Blackburnian Warbler, Palm Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, American
Redstart, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat,
White-throated Sparrow, Indigo Bunting, and Baltimore Oriole.

There were only small numbers or singles of the above species. We did get
great views of the Gray-cheeked Thrush, Yellow-throated Vireo, and
Blackburnain Warbler though!

There will be another MAS PBC Warbler Walk tomorrow morning at 6:00AM at the
same location.

RE: nesting birds from the American Birding Association's Code of Ethics:

"Keep well back from nests and nesting colonies, roosts, display areas, and
important feeding sites. In such sensitive areas, if there is a need for
extended observation, photography, filming, or recording, try to use a blind
or hide, and take advantage of natural cover."

http://www.aba.org/about/ethics.html

As a birder and nature photographer, identifying such a need escapes me.
