Yesterday and today two smart-looking Lincoln's Sparrows were under the
feeders chasing off the Juncos whenever they could. What pretty birds - so
nicely marked. I had never seen one until moving up to Door County.
Bluebird boxes on various trails I monitor are still non-productive though
three have fully made nests. No sighting of the Osprey today. Ellison Bay
beach had a pair of Canada Geese, several Bufflehead, a pair of R.B.
Mergansers, and a very colorful full breeding plumage Horned Grebe. A few
Tree Swallows heard, but though Purple Martins have been seen on Washington
Is. none have been heard overhead in this area.
Hilary Ford, Ellison Bay, Door Co.
