Hi all, Todd Ward and I hit a few spots on Lake Michigan today, nothing that unusual but 65-70 species was a nice total, especially as it was pretty chilly in the wind at times. Highlights: Green Bay - Black-Bellied Plover, Canvasback, Semi-P Plover, Lincoln's Sparrow, Blackpoll Warbler, YR Warbler, American Pipit. Point Beach - BB Plover, 9 Sanderling, Lesser Black-Backed Gull on the beach. In the woods there was a real changing of the seasons: Parula, BT Green, YR & Blackburnian Warblers & a pair of very co-operative Blue-Headed Vireos were all surely saying farewell. RB Nuthatches, Junco's, Fox, WT & WC Sparrows, Brown Creeper, both Kinglets, YB Sapsucker, Hermit Thrushes and Pine Siskins heralded cooler times. Manitowoc - lots of YR Warblers and a single Palm in the brush, Pec Sand and Sora on the lagoon, and most bizarrely of all, 4 Moorhens out on the lake. As Tom mentioned there was no raptor movement today which was a surprise. Nine species of Sparrow was nice although we had hoped for a rarer one.
