I have a question about where to enter observations into ebird when birding from the water. I do a lot of my birding from a kayak in the upper Yahara River, which is bordered by Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park, Yahara Heights County Park, the Cherokee Marsh Fishery Area, and other public and private lands. I've been entering my sightings according to the closest public land, so if I'm paddling by the Conservation Park, I enter the sighting under that park. For a single trip I can have three or more ebird reports. Would it make sense to create a location called "Upper Yahara River" for all sightings made from the water? The location would span a longer linear distance (about 4 miles) but would be more precise as to habitat.
