I started this morning before dawn on Dike Rd. Heard dozens of Soras, a few Virginia Rail, and one King Rail. Many American Bitterns calling. Nice assortment of waterfowl and shorebirds, including both yellowlegs, Dunlin, Least Sandpiper, and Semipalmated Plover. Also found Least Flycatcher, Warbling Vireo, Marsh and Sedge Wrens, Bobolink. A quick stop at the Bud Cook Hiking area yielded singing Henslows Sparrow. Hwy 49 was relatively slow. A Trumpeter Swan chased a Canada Goose halfway across the marsh. Peregrine Falcon flyby. A few Bonapartes Gulls, Forsters Terns and a large flock of Greater Yellowlegs. The Autoloop was notable for terrific looks at a singing WHITE-EYED VIREO. Saw 4 Cattle Egret on Stumpf Rd. Nice morning to be in the marsh. Todd Wilson Milwaukee
