Sarah &I also took a drive down to Horicon today. Around noon we were on
theauto tour loop, and stopped to walk about 100-150 yards out on Old Marsh
Road. Three BLACK NECKED STILTS were present, along with a plethora of
YellowLegs and Plovers. Also plenty of Northern Shovelers, Coots and Blue
Wing Teal. Around on Hwy 49 to the east side of the pump house was the WHITE
FACED IBIS. There were again lots of Yellow Legs and two Great Egrets in the
back. Amongst the geese &gulls were several Bonapartes Gulls. Unfortunately,
there was also a dead Mink on the shoulder of Hwy 49 by the pump house,
another victim of the traffic. Along the Rustic Road to the east side of the
marsh were many Song Sparrows, a Savanah Sparrow, and Swamp Sparrows. At the
visitors Center I saw a Northern Harrier circling out over the marsh.
