This past Sat I checked out the birds in the above three locations, and yes it was really cold and windy. Lakeside Park had an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull, plus 2 White Pelicans and Cormorants. Both Neenah and Menasha had more ice than a week before, so gull numbers and variety were down. There were 1500+ Herrings but the only other gull were 5 nonadult Glaucous. The usual ducks were at Jefferson Park, minus the Long-tailed, plus 2 Canvasbacks instead of the constant one. Only 2 Trumpeter Swans were visible, actively feeding amongst the ducks. James Island had the usual 25 Cormorants, plus 2 Coots. There were more Coots at Jefferson Park. Gull variety was the poorest since November, probably due to the marked increase in ice.
