Jennifer, it's hard to be certain of the chick's ID due to the angle and
"damage", but I wonder if it might a baby starling? It appears to be
pretty young, and likely it was a nestling.

A few of us watched two Cooper's Hawks at Lake Park yesterday. I was able
to get a close shot of the bird in the pic. I did not notice that it had
prey. The bird hadn't been acting like it was hunting. I wouldn't have
intruded if I knew it had dinner. I felt badly when I looked at my photos.
Anyway, the prey looks like a chick. Could it be a great horned owl chick?
Or would a Cooper's kill a rival male's chick?
