Harvey Road and Waagness flooded fields had 7 golden plovers, 7 Wilson's phalaropes, 2 dunlin, a few greater yellowlegs, lots of lessers and pectorals, 250+ Lapland longspurs and 2 pipits. When I got to Schumacker road a peregrine was kicking all the shorebirds and longspurs (150+) up. It made another pass later. As I moved up I could see the ibis. It was close to the road at first. I moved ahead to get a better view. The ibis got as close as 50 yards. I was using the Sibley's to check off field marks. Both Lester and could see that the iris' were not red, seemed brown. The bill was brownish toned ,not gray toned. The facial skin was gray. The light area at the edge of the facial skin didn't go behind the eye, looked blueish below the eye. It was thicker between the eyes and when the sun was out looked whitish, but that changed with the cloud cover. Sibley's says the white-faced can have some paler golden- rosy gloss on the lower back, I didn't see this on this ibis. The first Smith's that Nolan, Lester and I saw was a male. The later bird was a fairly bright female. It landed in the same area of the field (after being spotted on the edge of the water) that the male did. This was fairly close to the road on the southside of the east pond.
