I had the honor of attending a wedding reception at Lakeview Park in Fond
du Lac Saturday evening. At dusk, my children and I walked up the
"lighthouse" to look out over the panorama of Lake Winnebago. While up
there upwards of 500+ (closer to a 1,000?--they caught me by surprise)
Bonaparte's Gulls came north over the marina, forming a "blackbird-like"
swarm as they headed north low over the water apparently to traverse the
length of the lake. We were all very impressed at the speed at which the
flock was flying.
Earlier, on our way down, we took Hwy. 55 on the east side of the lake. At
the end of Cth. E, along the edge a fairly large field puddle were 20 or so
Bonaparte's Gulls loafing about.
