For those who haven't done it before, there is an opportunity this coming Saturday, August 24, to tour the decommissioned Badger Army Ammunition plant (enter off Hwy 12, north of Prairie du Sac, more or less across the road from Delaney's Salvage. Look for Dr. Evermore's huge "junk" sculptures): Tour Badger Army property Saturday, Aug. 24 (open for self-guided tours from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.) The public is invited to take a self-guided auto tour of the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant this Saturday, Aug. 24. The property will open starting at 9 a.m., and the gates will close at 3 p.m. Tour maps are available on the DNR website – dnr.wi.gov – by searching for “Sauk Prairie Recreation Area.” Tour maps will also be available the day of the tour at the starting point. A similar tour in October 2012 proved to be very popular, with more than 1,100 vehicles passing through the gates. __________ Also, comments on the future Sauk Prairie Recreation Area are due by Friday, August 30.
