As of noon today, the Brant was still present on Lake Wausau off of D.C. Everest Park / boat landing on the north end of the lake. The Brant has kept to itself all the while we were watching it. It was seen in the area east of the Great Blue Heron rookery, but would also be seen on the west side of the rookery resting up on an old muskrat mound. You'll need a scope to look for this bird as it is out some ways on the lake. This is a new county bird for me, but not a lifer or state bird. Also present on the lake was about 20 Bonaparte's Gulls that were probably birds left over from this last Saturdays massive flock of several thousands of Bonaparte's that spent the day on the lake. One Forster's Tern was also resting with the gulls too. I'll see if I can make it to Everest Park tomorrow morning to look for the Brant again. I'll post if I see it or not. Good luck to anyone who comes looking for this bird today. I hope it stays around for other to see it.
