A great morning on Green Bay Road. I was rousted out of bed this morning by a Black-Billed Cuckoo calling. I chased it for about a half hour (I did get dressed first!) and finally caught a glimpse of it flying. Lots of other stuff came in last night. Least and Great-crested flycatchers are here. Not many warblers but I did have a Nashville, Chestnut-sided, many Redstarts, & a Common Yellowthroat. I am looking at a chestnut-sided in our little fountain as I write this. And wonder of wonders a Mourning Warbler just flew in!!! Also an Indigo Bunting & a catbird. Our killdeers are back and nesting about 40 feet from the house. They have started incubating and hopefully will be out of here by the time the grandchildren arrive the end of June. Oddly, we still have a pair of Wood Ducks around. This is definitely not their habitat but they have been around for several weeks. All the rest of the usual birds are here. It is definitely a good birding morning on Washington Island.
