i spent the day enjoying the early spring migrants and the winter birds
Starting at Cty J off Cty G south of Beaver Dam there were 20 Gr. White-fronted
and 5 Cackling Geese amongst the Canadas. A lone Redwinged Blackbird was
perched in a tree, only one I saw all day. Lower Mud Lake had Gadwalls,
Shovelers, a lone Am Wigeon, plus many Tundra Swans and the usual waterfowl. B
in Stoughton had 410 White-fronted Geese and a few Pintails.
The Arena boat landing had a Red-shouldered Hawk, 12 Robins and 1 Cedar Waxwing
plus 4 Bald Eagles overhead.
The causeway across Lake Wisconsin had White-fronted Geese, Gadwalls and 1 Am
Wigeon plus the usual waterfowl. The feeder west of Poynette had a Tufted
Titmouse joining the other birds.
A stop back at J yielded about 100 White-fronted Geese in the afternoon.
Horicon Marsh has a few thousand Canada Geese with most being north of Ledge
Rd. A Snow Goose was with them. A female Harrier cruised the marsh on the
south side of 49.
A beautiful day to be out with the temp hitting 61 briefly!
