There were only 2 Possible breeding records for Eared Grebe during the Breeding Bird Atlas, but multi-bird presence bears watching - Noel Cutright, Ozaukee County ________________________________ From: wisbirdn-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:wisbirdn-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of JDX14@xxxxxxx Sent: Monday, May 04, 2009 2:01 PM To: wisbirdn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [wisb] 3 Eared Grebes - Wangsness Rd. Pond - Columbia Co. Hi all, Thanks to John, Peter, and Lester for posting the Eared Grebes on Sunday. I went Monday morning and after scoping for quite a while found THREE Eared Grebes where John, Peter, and Lester had them Sunday afternoon, in the NE end of the pond, west of Kronke Road. They were loosely associating with the Scaup and a large group of Ruddy Ducks. There were two grebes that hung together and when the third tried to join them one of the pair would sometimes swim aggressively towards it and chase it off. But the 3 were normally fairly close together but not always right together. I watched them from 9:40 to 10:20 Monday morning.
