Hi Ed, MS operating systems have a hard coded class of service rule regarding the use of RAW formatted spool files. Where long ago Windows was an application that ran on top of a DOS kernel, Microsoft added a hard coded rule into their OS products that spool files formatted as RAW (already in the correct form for the target printer) would be processed ahead of spool files in the EMF format, which needed to be converted by the selected Windows printer driver before they could be transmitted to the target printer itself. If your customer uses any Windows applications that create RAW formatted spool files (example: Print Sessions of Terminal Emulator programs), this can cause the spool file order to be changed. My customer says that their print jobs are not always printing in order. How is this possible? Don't they print in the order in which they are received into the printer queue? I know the applications is queueing the jobs sequentially, one after they other. How can I ensure that they print out in that same order? Thanks, -Ed Baker erb2000@xxxxxxxxx
