SYMPTOMS

While running setup on Microsoft LAN Manager 2.2a or 2.2b client=20
software for OS/2 2.1 or 2.11, you may see the error:
=20
The current LAN Manager is not detached.

If LM not installed , verify that NETAPI.DLL is in the LIBPATH.
=20
CAUSE

There is a reference in the LIBPATH=3D section of the CONFIG.SYS file=20
to the C:\MUGLIB\DLL, C:\MUGLIB or an equivalent directory=20
containing a version of the file NETAPI.DLL not compatible with=20
Microsoft LAN Manager client 2.2a or 2.2b software.
=20
RESOLUTION

Remove the reference from the LIBPATH=3D section and from any other=20
paths in CONFIG.SYS that point to the location of a different=20
NETAPI.DLL.=20

For example, an IBM OS/2 client running IBM's Extended Edition may=20
have these path entries in CONFIG.SYS:

 LIBPATH=3DC:\LANMAN\NETLIB;C:\OS2\DLL;C:\SQLLIB\DLL;C:\CMLIB\DLL;
   C:\;C:\MUGLIB\DLL;
SET PATH=3DC:\LANMAN\NETPROG;C:\OS2;C:\SQLLIB;C:\CMLIB;C:\OS2\SYSTEM;
   C:\OS2\INSTALL;C:\;C:\BINP;C:\MUGLIB;
SET DPATH=3DC:\LANMAN\NETPROG;C:\OS2;C:\CMLIB;C:\OS2\SYSTEM;
   C:\OS2\INSTALL;C:\;C:\MUGLIB\DLL;
=09=09=09=09
When those references are removed this example reads:

 LIBPATH=3DC:\LANMAN\NETLIB;C:\OS2\DLL;C:\SQLLIB\DLL;C:\CMLIB\DLL;C:\;
SET PATH=3DC:\LANMAN\NETPROG;C:\OS2;C:\SQLLIB;C:\CMLIB;C:\OS2\SYSTEM;
   C:\OS2\INSTALL;C:\;C:\BINP;
SET DPATH=3DC:\LANMAN\NETPROG;C:\OS2;C:\CMLIB;C:\OS2\SYSTEM;
   C:\OS2\INSTALL;C:\;

If you are running IBM OS/2 Extended Edition (EE) you may not be=20
able to run the NetWare Requester or some EE components (such as=20
COMM Manager) that need the special NETAPI.DLL installed in the=20
MUGLIB directory.=20

OS/2 architecture allows only a single .DLL of a given name, so you=20
must decide whether you want to run COMM Manager or the NetWare=20
Requester.=20

If you use the Requester, you must rename or delete the existing=20
NETAPI.DLL in the MUGLIB directory.=20
