I guess it's part of the job - even if it is a pain as it sometimes is. You don't get credit for it but everyone still expects you to do it. I had a VP at a different company doing this kind of stuff to me in the past. He even ran his wife's business website on our servers - all with a nod from above. I know it's sad but if you want to get ahead within in the company you need to swallow down your pride and anger and get the job done as good as you can. Maybe it pays off - maybe it doesn't. You could start your own company and avoid those things .... I have this problem here as well, I think it's just part of the job. The only reason it bugs me is because I have all this important work to do but instead I'm fixing some schmucks system so he can do dvd burning. This is more important than working on our email server??
