Just one last thing... When I try net use with lpt2 it does not even ask me for a password... Even a regular user. When I try it with lpt1 it says: C:\>net use lpt1: \\zeus\hplaserj Invalid password for \\zeus\hplaserj Tye the username for 'zeus': administrator Type the password for Zeus: System error 5. Access denied. Everything above was translated from portugueses o sorry if it is not exactly correct! ; ) The funny thing is I can capture lpt1 and point it to \\zeus\hplaser on windows 98. It was using a tcp/ip connection and not lpt1. Anyway, I removed it as admin, logged in as the user and then tried running the command again, but had the same problem. : ( Regards, Eduardo Herrmann de Freitas -----Mensagem original----- De: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Em nome de Sullivan, Glenn Enviada em: terça-feira, 9 de setembro de 2003 11:45 Para: 'windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Assunto: [windows2000] Re: Error trying to point lpt1 to \\server\printer No... it sounds like LPT1 is already in use. And non-admins cannot change that. Can you take the printer that is already there, attach it to LPT2, and then have LPT1 available? There is already a printer set up on it but it is using tcp/ip to connect. I tried to map a folder and it worked fine... So it seems there is something going on with lpt1... Weird. Is LPT1 already in use or something? Try LTP2 for the hell of it. What about if you create an ordinary fileshare on ZEUS (do you work for Sovereign Bank? That's their PDC name.) with the same permissions as the print share. Can you map to that?
