hi Anthony
The procedure of adding songs to a playlist is a bit different than the
traditional method. For now, let's forget the control key, you won't need
it here.
I'll try to keep this brief as possible. To do what you want, do the
following.

1. Make sure that all 12 of the tracks you want to be added to your
playlist are in the same folder.
2. If this is the case, you can press shift plus l and you'll be presented
with a tree view of your different folders. when you find the one you want,
press the enter key and they'll be added to your playlist. Make sure you
are in the playlist editor when doing this, I can not stress this enough or
it isn't going to work. Note also that you can press your up and down
arrow keys and JAWS will tell you which track your on. To play that song,
press the enter key.

Ok. now you wanted to add 4 more songs, from your other cd. if they're in
different folders, press the letter l and navigate to where the songs are.
when you locate the song press enter on it and it'll be added to your
playlist. do this until you have all the songs added. Note you can do this
for the first folders worth of songs if you like but the shift plus l key
combination is faster. So, as you can tell, you don't select files in the
traditional windows method. This is precisely why I've always said that you
can't be a rank amateur and expect to be able to do a lot of this stuff
with playlists, right off the bat. It's a very good idea to get some
training in the Windows environment first so you can get the concepts
down. It helps to get the basics down first so you can work off those
things and then you can get into the playlist creation and everything.
Hope that helps to get you started.
