it really all depends. most of them self-install, but every so often
they'll be zipped archives in which case you'll have to unzip the files to
the correct folder. the hard and fast rule on this one is that the files
always end up in c:\program files\winamp\plugins. so if they endup there,
they'll most likely work just fine.
