Hope this works with the new email address for this list. Make sure in the DNS settings on your DNS Server that you put the external DNS IPs into the forwarder section. That way if a name cannot be resolved the request is being forwarded to the external DNS servers. If you do not run your own DNS server set one up (good for learning and testing anyway) and use your ISP DNS servers in the forwarder section. -----Original Message----- From: Laurin Keith Davis [mailto:laurin1@xxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, March 22, 2001 8:03 PM To: win2000forum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: [win2000forum] DNS Entries Surely somebody has an answer (or even a smart ass comment) for this one!! Have I just been wrong all along or am I going crazy. I have a Pro machine and an Adv Server machine at home and the same thing happens with both of them. Apparently, some of the nameservers I'm using aren't very reliable, and when one goes down, I can't get resolution. I have to MANUALLY move another to the primary slot, or it won't work. What the heck is the secondary slot for then?
