I'm pretty sure it is on as it works for all of my Windows clients. I rarely add Windows systems into DNS. They just appear there after being allocated a reserved DHCP address... I will check though. I'm only see'ing this on Linux clients... -Ed -----Original Message----- From: D-rok [mailto:Webservices@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, October 07, 2002 4:28 PM To: win2kforum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [win2kforum] Re: Linux and dynamic DNS updates from DHCP. Have you verified that "Allow Dynamic Updates" is turned on in DNS? You might have an issue if you selected "Allows only Secured Updates" being as the clients are not authenticating to Active Directory. Hope that helps... Hi folks, I have several Redhat Linux clients. They seem to get a reserved DHCP address fine from our W2K MS-DNS=3D20 server. But, MS-DNS is not being updated dynamically to=3D20 show the new Linux system. If I check the DHCP reservation for these systems I click on the DNS tab and I see that I have the following checked: Automatically update DHCP client information in DNS Always update DNS Discard forward (name-to-address) lookups when lease expires Enable updates for DNS clients that do not support dynamic update I assumed that the last one above would have helped. Does anyone else have trouble with Linux and dynamic DNS updates via DHCP? Thanks, Ed Ed Sanborn (978) 367-8478 Principal Network Administrator SnowShore Networks 285 Billerica Rd.
