To back up the registry in Win2k, you use the NTBackup utility (accessed by right clicking a drive in Explorer, Properties, Tools tab) walks you through a wizard, check the box that says back up system state data - this includes your AD, all your registry and depending what type of machine you're running, could also include your certificate services, COM objects, etc....
