Dear Whitman Families and Friends,
Here's a friendly reminder of what's happening around Whitman:
ASB Sock Drive - Ends Tomorrow!
January 20, 2012 - February 14, 2012
The ASB of Whitman Elementary are participating in a sock drive to donate
socks to the Salvation Army and the Polinsky Children's Center. ASB is
accepting new and unused socks for children and adults.
February 13 - February 16, 2012 - Family Science Week
The first of several events are happening today for Family Science Week,
beginning with an in-school assembly with Mad Science. Please join Whitman
PTA for Family Science Night with Whitman's Parnter, the Reuben H. Fleet
today from 5:30 pm - 7 pm in the Auditorium. Light Food and Refreshments
will be provided.
Tuesday, February 14 - Career Day. This is an in-school event starting at
1:20 - 3:30 pm. Grades 4 - 6 will begin their career tour at 1:20 where
they'll get to meet with professional from Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics. Parents and community are welcome to join us to see what
the students get to learn.
Wednesday, February 15 - Read to your Student. Parents and Caregivers are
invited to read to their student's classroom from 9:10 - 10 am.
Thursday, February 16 - Madison High School Robotics Club has been invited
to show students Kinetic Robotics in the afternoon.
These events were made possibly by a National PTA grant that the Whitman PTA
has won.
February 17 & February 20, 2012 - Washington's Birthday & President's Day -
No School
March 13 - March 16, 2012 - Parent/Teacher's Conferences
March 26 - April 9, 2012 - Whitman PTA Spring Fundraiser
April 2 - April 6, 2012 - Spring Break, No School
Merchandise:
Show your Whitman Spirit by wearing your Cougar merchandise!!! Check out
examples of the merchandise on display inside the Front Office. Order forms
are available in the front office. Cash - exact change please, and checks -
payable to Whitman PTA, are accepted.
We have:
Sorry there are not youth shirts available at this time, the Whitman PTA
Board is considering taking pre-orders for youth shirts.
Polos for Ladies and Mens - Size M, L, XL, and 2X for both
Scoop neck shirts (note these are Junior/Misses sizes so for adults, go up
one size) - M, L, XL
New!!! - Hooded pullovers in Youth Medium and limited Youth Large
New!!! Whitman T-Shirts, Adult sizes only, M, L, XL, and 2XL There are No
Youth sizes
We also still have the cougar paw T-Shirts for Adults (Size S - 2X), cougar
paw zippered hoodies for Youth Small, and Adults (sizes S - 2XL)
Volunteer Opportunities
Parents/teachers that wish to help make a difference at Whitman with the
Whitman PTA are welcome to help in the following ways:
Mission Federal Banking Days - Every Wed except the first Wed of the month.
Parent Reps for grades Pre-K, 3 - 6: Be a member of the Board by being a
representative for the grade and serve as a liaison by passing on important
info of upcoming testing, field trips, or other types of events that are
grade specific.
School Site Council Board (SSC)
SSC Board is comprised of Parents and Staff of the school and participate in
making decision in regards to specific programs at Whitman Elementary.
