Or if you REALLY want to you can photograph your real signature turn it into a
jpg and put it as a pic anywhere But you'd probably change it a little if you
are worried about it being stolen Nick

Subject: [The-L] "Redacted" emaill addresses

If you're on Yahoo or AOL, the software that manages this list (not the list
owner) changes your name to "Redacted" (which means blacked-out) and your email
address to demarc-noreply@xxxxxxxxxxxxx (which means a reply will go nowhere.)
This is to prevent the damage that Yahoo and AOL would otherwise inflict on all
of us. It's not your fault. It's not my fault. If you write to Yahoo or AOL
and complaini, they'll let you know they don't give a flying you-know-what
about what you think.

I'm not sure about Comcast. Hotmail and MSN are in the clear; they must have
changed their minds because they used to follow Yahoo's lead.

What I'm telling you folks on Yahoo and AOL is that it's in your best
interest to put your name and email address at the bottom of your messages.
Someone who was meant to reply to a post privately replied to it here instead
and the intended recipient had to call me to find out th e correct email
address. I'm glad to be helpful, but when it's not necessary, I'd rather not
be.

Actually, it would be good if we all attached our names and email addresses
to our posts.

Most email apps offer you a way to attach your signature (usually called a
"sig") automagically when you send a message. I'm going to start doing that,
to set an example. I hope you'll follow.
