The Da Vinci Code from Columbia Pictures, rated PG-13 (cc dvs)
In Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) is
summoned to the Louvre — a museum employee has been murdered. Near his
body is a strange cipher. To solve the riddle, Langdon joins with the
victim's daughter, French cryptologist Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou), and
learns of a centuries-old conspiracy surrounding the Priory of Sion, a
secret society dating back to the days of Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli
and Leonardo Da Vinci. The brainy duo must race through Paris, London
and elsewhere to solve the puzzle and the ancient conspiracy before the
answer is lost forever. Directed by Ron Howard (Cinderella Man, A

SOME THOUGHTS ON THE DVS FOR UNITED 93
An always articulate movie fan from the Bay Area in California shared
his experience seeing United 93 with dvs last week. Here is an excerpt:
"This film demands audio description. While the story is centered on the
action aboard United Flight 93, the large cast of characters, the
frequent scene changes and the sub-titles of some of the Arabic
conversations of the terrorists will leave you in confusion without the
help of description. This is especially true as the film approaches its
climax, the wild battle for control of the aircraft. I suspect we could
get quite a few more co-sponsors for the Video Description Restoration
Act if we could send audio CD's of the described sound track to every
member of congress, so they'd be able to appreciate the full impact of
audio description."
