Call for WITA Evaluators
The Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH) is seeking qualified candidates to be trained as evaluators for the Wisconsin Interpreting and Transliterating Assessment (WITA). Who: ODHH is looking to fill 20 evaluator slots. 10 deaf and 10 hearing evaluators are needed.

Hours: Evaluators will receive videotapes via US Mail periodically during the year. The video tape must be evaluated and returned to ODHH with the evaluation completed within 2 weeks of receiving the video. One video could have multiple applicants on it to be evaluated. Evaluation of 1 applicant could take 1-2 hours depending on the experience of the evaluator.

Compensation:  Evaluators will be paid $30.00 per applicant evaluated.


Qualifications: Deaf candidates must have bilingual competence in both ASL and English and at least one of the following:
CDI (Certified Deaf Interpreter – Registry of interpreters for the Deaf)
ASLTA
Bachelor’s Degree

Hearing Candidates must have bilingual competence in both ASL and English as well as:
CI and CT, CSC, or NIC-Certified
ITP Graduate

Job Description: Evaluators will be responsible to attend orientation training and subsequent refresher trainings. Upon completion of the orientation training evaluators will begin receiving video tapes in the mail at their home with multiple applicants on it. All evaluators must have access to a TV and VCR and in future, internet, to be able to view the video tapes. Using established tools and scoring rubrics evaluators will view and score the applicant on the video. The video along with scoring documentation must be returned to the ODHH office promptly. This must be done in a timely fashion so that the WITA system runs smoothly and efficiently. Evaluators must be very responsible and have good time management skills. In addition, evaluators must adhere to a high degree of confidentiality.

Application: Interested persons must apply by submitting a letter of interest to ODHH. The letter should indicate why they are interested in becoming a WITA evaluator and what qualification they have which satisfy the required qualifications. Please include a copy of any of the qualifications with the letter (ex. RID card, ASLTA, Bachelor’s Degree, ITP certificate). Required orientation training will take place on Saturday November 3, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm in Greenfield.

Leave the body of the email blank. You should get a confirmation saying "set digest" and "Flag successfully set". After that, you will start receiving WADNet Post in digest instead of separate emails for each post.

TO STOP DIGEST AND GO BACK TO NORMAL EMAIL:
Send an email to wadnetpost-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with "unset digest" in the subject line.  Leave 
the body of the email blank.  You will get a confirmation showing "unset digest" and "Flag 
successfully set".  And you'll go back to receiving normal emails from WADNet Post.
