NSAD Softball News – HISTORY WAS MADE on 8/11/07!

Chicago Catholic Ephphetta (CCE) has just become the 2007 National Softball Association of the Deaf (NSAD) champions! For the first time in the history of the CAAD region (beginning in 1976), a CAAD team has finally won a national title by defeating the Maryland Eagles in the final championship game 26 to 17! It took 31 long years for the CAAD region to produce a title team! Equally fitting is that history was made in CAAD’s own backyard – Dayton, Ohio!

Players on this history making team – Don Arocho – Illinois, Scott Bradach – Indiana, Terry DeBoer – Illinois, Norman Edwards – Wisconsin, Brian Fruits (player/coach) – Wisconsin, Joey Hager – Illinois, Nathan Jellison – Michigan, Derrick Jull – California, Joey Kutcka – Indiana, Paul Langlois – Ohio, Ken Lavoy – Michigan, John Little – Indiana, Tony Long – Kentucky, Mike Mokris – Illinois, Peter Pickering – Indiana, Kevin Smith (player/assistant coach) - Illinois, Eric Suiter – Indiana, Joe Winkler – Illinois and Charles Bright (Athletic Director) - Illinois.

Please view the NSAD weblink at http://www.nsad.org/events/2007_NSAD_tournament/Mens2007.htm for the tourney bracket and http://www.nsad.org for other information from the NSAD tourney (not all information has been posted yet – should be very soon).

Championship videos may be obtained from CSD-TV. Follow this link - http://www.csd.tv/live/

Many thanks to the CCE Board, CAAD Officers, CAAD softball teams, CCE fans, CCE wives/girlfriends/families, Charles Bright and HOVRS for their support this year! We look forward to defending our title next year in Denver, Colorado!
