MOPIX OC UPDATE
-- MoPix Update from WGBH - April 6
==================================================
MoPix Update from WGBH- April 6

Firehouse Dog from Twentieth Century Fox Films (cc dvs) (rated PG)
Hollywood's hottest stunt dog gets lost during a shoot and befriends a lonely kid (Josh Hutcherson) and his single dad (Bruce Greenwood) and eventually becomes the beloved mascot of the local fire station.

Are We Done Yet? from Sony Pictures (cc only) (rated PG)
In this sequel to Are We There Yet?, Ice Cube and Nia Long want to move to the suburbs for a better life in which to raise their two kids. However, after purchasing a "fixer-upper" that needs more "fixer" than they originally imagined, they fall victim to an unscrupulous contractor (John C. McGinley) who never seems to get the job done.

Grindhouse from The Weinstein Co. (cc only) (rated R)
Two 60-minute horror films, complete with an intermission packed full of fake trailers, come from the ingenious minds of directors Quentin Tarantino (PULP FICTION) and Robert Rodriguez (FROM DUSK TILL DAWN).

The Reaping from Warner Bros. Pictures (cc only) (rated R)
Hilary Swank stars as a paranormal detective who investigates religious occurrences. Her latest case: a town where the 10 biblical plagues are in full force.

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, BOYS AND GIRLS... AN AUDIO STREAM OF THE DESCRIBED WIND IN THE WILLOWS The classic children's story Wind in the Willows will air on PBS stations on Sunday evening, April 8. As is the case with all Masterpiece Theatre productions, this program has been described by WGBH's Media Access Group. However, for this program, WGBH, producer of MPT (insiders' acronym...) sought and received the rights to stream the described audio version (no video) in advance of the air date, and to leave it up on the program's Web site for folks who are blind or visually impaired (or who just want to enjoy a described version of the program) to enjoy. Here's the link to the program's site, and to the streaming audio files: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/willows/index.html (link to Video Description)

The idea that described audio could be used as "car movies" or for many other uses by sighted audiences beyond the traditional audience's usage is exciting and would spur, we all hope, a growth in the availability of the service. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing remember the big jump in captioning once hearing audiences and producers discovered the use of that service in loud environments such as airports and gyms, and now for for search capability in online video. To a more accessible future, and the faster the better!
