www.MADHH.orgThe staff at the Michigan Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MADHH) is pleased to introduce our 2007 summer camps. We are accepting staff applications for our two summer programs: The Ralph Lynam Leadership Institute and Lion’s Camp Chris Williams!
These are annual camps that are a full week long. We are looking for a DIRECTOR, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, COUNSELORS, PRESENTERS AND INTERPRETERS to join our MADHH family! Deaf and hard of hearing applicants are strongly encouraged to apply!
The Ralph Lynam Leadership Institute of MADHH is for Deaf and hard of hearing High School students currently in 10th, 11th, or 12th grades: held at Michigan State University, June 17-22. Students will receive training on advocacy skills, assistive devices, civil rights, substance abuse prevention, goal settings, time management, and team building. Fun activities that we may experience include bowling, swimming, a court trail visit, and a rear window captioned movie. A large majority of the Deaf and hard of hearing presenters are leaders in their fields of work.
The Lions Club; Camp Chris Williams: we partner with the Lions District 11B-2, and it is a fun-filled traditional camping experience for children of Deaf adults (CODAs), Deaf or hard of hearing children, and their siblings, ages 8-14. Camp activities include LifeSkills Programs, horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, archery, craft building, drama, and Mini-Olympics. Camp is held at the Lake Sherman YMCA in Augusta Michigan on August 12-18. Mandatory training for all staff will be on August 11, 2007.
