At the time of writing, Sophos has received a small number of reports of this worm from the wild. Customers using EM Library, Enterprise Console, PureMessage or any of our Sophos small business solutions will be automatically protected at their next scheduled update. W32/Tirbot-G spreads to other network computers targeting weakly protected network shares, or by exploiting the LSASS vulnerability (MS04-011). A patch is available from Microsoft for the LSASS vulnerability exploited by W32/Tirbot-G: MS04-011 W32/Tirbot-G includes functionality to silently download, install and run new software. When first run W32/Tirbot-G copies itself to <System>\mssvp.exe and creates the file <Windows>\msi486.dll.
