A virus identity (IDE) file which provides protection is
available now from the Sophos website, and will be incorporated
into the June 2004 (3.82) release of Sophos Anti-Virus.

Enterprise Manager and PureMessage customers will be
automatically protected at their next scheduled update.

At the time of writing, Sophos has received just one report of
this Trojan from the wild.


Note: The IDE issued for Troj/Loony-E at 14:34 GMT in 15 April
also contained detection for Troj/Keylog-P, Troj/Downldr-EA,
Troj/Inor-J, W32/Agobot-GM, W32/Sdbot-CO, Troj/StartPa-CP,
W32/Annil-A, W32/Agobot-GH, W32/Gobot-A, Troj/Nodfu-A and
W32/Agobot-LB. This IDE has now been updated to enhance
detection of W32/Agobot-LB.

Description 
Troj/Loony-E is a backdoor Trojan that allows unauthorised access and
control of the infected computer from a remote location via IRC channels. 
Troj/Loony-E copies itself to the Windows system folder as SVSHOST.EXE and
creates the following registry entry in order to run itself on system
startup: 

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\svshostdriver
