Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), Irish dramatist, novelist, & poet - Gaim 1.3.1 corrects two vulnerabilities - Oxygen3 24h-365d, by Panda Software (http://www.pandasoftware.com) Madrid, June 13 2005 - The new version 1.3.1 of the Gaim instant messaging client corrects two vulnerabilities that could be exploited to cause a remote denial of service (DoS) in affected clients. Gaim is a popular instant messaging (IM) client available for Linux, BSD, MacOS X and Windows, and is also multi-protocol, allowing it to connect to different IM networks and clients simultaneously, such as AIM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, SILC, GroupWise Messenger and Zephyr. The new version 1.3.1 corrects two denial of service vulnerabilities (DoS). The first has been detected in the Yahoo! Service module when the client processes file names with non- ASCII characters. The second could be provoked on receiving malformed messages from the MSN protocol. Gaim users can prevent these vulnerabilities by installing the new version 1.3.1, available for different platforms at http://gaim.sourceforge.net/downloads.php NOTE: The address above may not show up on your screen as a single line.
