It shows up in synth rack, I just can’t get any sounds to work and none of the
buttons on the keyboard do anything except for the actual piano keys, but, not
on the KK/native sounds, just on my other plugins.
Perhaps I am having trouble with the sounds loading, even though they do in
standalone mode.
My sighted assistant says there wasn’t a good tutorial or manual for the KK,
does anyone know where something like that might be hiding out on the web? A
link to whatever you guys are using would be amazing.

If I’m understanding you correctly, the presence or absence of KK as a control
surface shouldn’t have any effect on the ability to play KK stuff in Sonar.
The fact is, I was able to play KK in Sonar before I added it as a control
surface. Adding it as a control surface is primarily to allow you to use the
transport functions of KK to initiate actions such as Play, Stop, Rewind, Fast
Forward and Record.
I see that you did put the KK DLL in the right VSt folder and rescan. Are you
saying that KK doesn’t show up in Synth Rack when you press a and search for
VST instruments? Or, are you saying that you won’t get sounds once it’s
instantiated?

Kevin,
So basically in standalone mode, I had speech from the keyboard and access of
all sounds and functionality. It was a beautiful thing!!!
However, When I tried to use it in my DAW of Sonar I couldn't get any speech
function and I couldn't get any sounds to play at all!
I checked to make sure that the computer/sonar saw the kontact control and for
out puts I could see KK, KKx1, KK DAW. And just Kontact.
under control services, I could see all the KK drivers was selected, but, I
couldn't ad KK as a control surface.
Thanks so much for any assistance!

Joey,
When you say you couldn’t get it working in Sonar, exactly what were you
unable to do?

In standalone mode it is amazing, however, I couldn't get it to work in my DAW,
any ideas? I am using Sonar until I have time to get proficient in Sampletude.

The only function there is is to turn voicing of controls on or off.
That's done by pressing the topmost leftmost button and the topmost rightmost
buttons together. Your computer, either OSX or Windows, will say "Accessibility
on" or "off". After that, there isn't anything else to know. Every button you
press and every knob you touch and turn will say something meaningful. If the
knob says nothing when you touch it, that simply means this knob is not active
in the current state of the controller. What that means is that there are some
sounds and banks that have fewer editing controls than others, and the controls
that don't do anything also don't speak anything, so if you touch a knob and
hear nothing, don't get scared that something is wrong. It just means that knob
has no function in the state the controller is in at the time you touched it.

Thanks so much!

Kevin,
No special requirements, no KK patch needs to be loaded, just go to
the Samplitude settings and choose Mackie as the surface and Komplete
Kontrol DAW as the midi in and out, worked for me in Samplitude
Best,
Chris

Chris,
Concerning enabling KK transport controls in Samplitude, does one have to have
a KK patch loaded for the transport controls to work? Should one be in generic
MIDi mode to make them work? Are there any other particular conditions one has
to meet? Have you actually used the transport controls of a KK machine in
Samplitude?
Thanks,

Hi Joey,
The keyboards you refer to are Native Instruments S-series, they
come in four flavours, a 25, 49,61 and 88 key all prefixed with the letter S.
The first three models all have synth action semi-weighted keys,
whilst the 88 key is a fully weighted hammer action piano style affair.
When it comes to accessability and buttons, every model is
identical and has exactly the same buttons and panel layout.
It's actually the Komplete Kontrol software that is providing the
access, Komplete Kontrol is installed and initiated just as you
would any VST synth plugin, however it is acting as a host for
other Native Instruments and compliant third party libraries and
plugins - not just Kontakt.
The Keyboards come with 'Select' which is a watered down 'get you
started' version of Komplete and Komplete Ultimate, Native
Instruments bundle of their leading plugins and libraries, which
include Kontakt, Absynth, FM8, Massive, Battery, Reaktor, Monarch,
Spark and several other synths, as well as Kontakt libraries, sorry
I should clarify that these come in the full Komplete versions not
the Select bundle. Select has the free Kontakt player which
enables you to use the included Kontakt libraries like 'The
Gentleman Piano', 'West Africa Liabrary', Scarby Vintage Organs',
'Retro Machines', you also get Massive and a couple other synths.
You can buy other NKS (Native Key Standard) libraries from Native
Instruments which will work in the Free Kontakt player, as will
some other third party libraries that use NI's registration system.
Other plugins have been converted and their presets mapped by users
so they can also be used within the Komplete Kontrol software and
browsed via it's database with speech assistance, there is also
varying amounts of edting facilities available dependant upon
product. You can for example now also access Omnisphere 2,
Trilian, Keyscape, Air Music Expansions, Bass Station, V-Station, Korg Legacy,
Zebra and several other plugins.
The speech comes from your computer's sapi 5 default voice (on
Windows) and voiceover on Mac.
Hope this helps,
best,
Chris

Hi Guys,
I have been reading about all this accessibility but, never saw
the model number for the Kontact Control
I want to get one, But, I am not sure which model I want. Which keyboard for
Kontact Control is the one that has all the accessibility and what libraries
should I buy with it? I will probably want to investigate buying the 66 key or
88 key version.
Many thanks,

Subject: [vipaudioaccess] KK transport controls
Guys,
I just received my S 25 and I am integrating it into Reaper, Sonar and
Samplitude. So far, I have not been able to get the transport controls on the
S 25 to respond in any of these DAWs. How do I fix that?
Thanks,
Kevin
