Thanks for going through my quite long message.  I apologize for not
realizing that this list was samplitude only, can you guys give me a little
slack because of my situation?  Please please? Lol.
To answer your questions.

Yes the mixer is analog.

Didn't really want to upgrade to windows 10 if I can help it since I am
familuar with how this mixer/soundcard/recording works and only wanted to
change keyboard/sound.

I'll see what sales I can find on drives/ram.  Wonder if I can get sighted
assistance to perhaps mirror my system drive over to a new one and not have
to reinstall everything?  The discs are around here somewhere if I had to
but what a pain!
Forgot to mention that jaws is upgraded to 18 so I'm all good there.

Integra 7 is out, was pretty expensive anyway.  I suppose once you select a
bank using the definition file, it wouldn't automatically load it?  Sounds
like no from what you said.  Disappointed that the patches aren't from the
real expansion cards, always wanted the srx06 complete orchestra and srx09
world ones.

Once I find out if sonar works, it would be great to just buy the
CakeTalking upgrade and stay with it.  But as mentioned, if I had to switch
for accessibility reasons I would.

Integra 7 is out do to the fact that not all banks/patches can be accessed
by default and must be loaded via front panel.  I figured that might be the
case but somehow thought that maybe the instrument definition would trigger
the loading once you selected a particular bank.  Thanks for that
information though, was looking forward to a real srx06 complete orchestra
card, oh well.
Forgot to mention that I am upgraded to jaws18 so that's all good there.

First off, welcome to the list. This list is primarily focused on a
specific DAW, called Samplitude, to which JAWS users have gotten
access just last July. However, before I start off on my Samplitude
biggot rant (ha ha), I'll make a couple comments on what you wrote,
interspersing my responses with your initial post.

My desktop purchased in January 2011 currently has:

Windows 7 pro 64 bit

You'll be wanting to upgrade to Windows 10, long as your
aforementioned hardware can work with it.

Intel Quad core 3.0GHZ processor

8GB ram

SoundBlaster soundcard

Delta soundcard

500GB system hard drive

2TB storage hard drive

cd/dvd drive.

Good so far, although I'd personally prefer a smaller data drive, make
it a solid-state drive, and store stuff offline on a USB 3.0 drive.
That's just a personal preference.

Jaws and related programs were installed in February 2011.  So I think that
would be jaws 11, sonar 8.5.3, dimension pro/rapture full versions and
CakeTalking released in 2009?  I know there is a CakeTalking upgrade from
2013 but not sure if I would need it.

What you really do need is a JAWS upgrade. Lots of problems with
CakeTalking were fixed between 2009 and 2013. Of course, if you
upgrade now, it'll cost you a few valuable body parts, but it's well
worth doing for the benefits you'll get. Of course, you'll immediately
have access to JAWS 18, but if you installed version 15, that would
work very nicely with the upgraded CakeTalking.

So a keyboard.  The Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol s61 intrigues me
greatly because of the accessibility recently added.  I am very comfortable
however with just using hardware, loading in the instrument definition
file,
mapping ports and accessing all banks/presets.  I tried dimension pro for a
while, sort of got the hang of it but I just didn't feel comfortable with
it.  I will reconsider my stance now however because of the accessibility
and amount of sounds included in komplete ultimate if upgraded from
komplete
select.  Hopefully I can try komplete select first.

Yes, you absolutely can use Select without buying the extra library.
You don't get a very big or great collection in Select, but it's
enough to wet your whistle, as they say, to peak your interest and
help you to decide if you want to get deeper into it. Many of us on
this list own Komplete Kontrol Ultimate plus several other software
synthesizers that are all accessible via the Komplete Kontrol system,
so even if you purchase other softsynths and not the KK Ultimate
library, your KK Select keyboard will absolutely not be wasted.

I will also be purchasing the Motif Rack XS both for its keyboard presets
but mostly to load sounds in to user banks to play with a Yamaha WX5 Wind
Controller both live and for recording in to compositions.

I was also looking at the Roland Integra 7 for wind controller as well as
the large amount of ready to go sounds, especially the built in SRX
expansion cards for orchestral arrangements.

In my unhumble opinion, and I'm sure Juan Mojena will jump in on this,
while the concept of the Integra-7 is a good one, its accessibility
and implementation are not. Firstly, as I discovered when I was
thinking of buying one recently, some of the sounds chosen for
inclusion are less than optimal. For instance, the sales brochure says
it has all the sounds from the SRX boards in it. That's technically
not correct. The patches have the same names, but they're not the same
sounds as, say, the SRX boards that go into the Fantom XR rack. On the
MIDI side, and this also ties in with accessibility, it's not possible
to access all banks and patches without some front-panel
button-pushing to electronically load those banks and patches into
MIDI-accessible memory from internal storage. I suppose it's possible
to learn the key sequences to do it, but there are so many cooler and
more accessible things you could do, the question then becomes, do you
really want to go that route?

hopefully soon have someone look at the machine with me to determine what
upgrades it can handle.  I was thinking maybe 16GB ram but definitely 2
512GB solid state drives, one for system, one for software libraries.

256GB is probably all you'll ever need for a system disk. Save your
money. Put it toward a 1TB SSD, like the Samsung 850 EVO or Pro.

The RAM upgrade is an excellent idea, especially if you're going
Komplete.

Second is komplete accessibility and usage.  Will this work in sonar?  If
so
that would be ideal since I can also use any hardware modules I want.  Can
I
for example just be focused on a track, choose or edit a preset all on the
keyboard and just start recording?

Good question. I'm curious if anyone in here has tried that yet.

Third is looking at Reaper and Samplitude with OSARA/NVDA and samplitude
jaws scripts.  I would be willing to learn a new DAW in order to use
komplete as effectively as possible, forgot half of the sonar commands
anyway.  I was reading however that they don't play nice with hardware,
samplitude doesn't appear to have an equivalent of sonars instrument
definition files. 

That's correct, although some have had success in Samplitude with a
Reaper plugin called ReaPlug. It does other things besides load
Sonar-format instrument definition files, but some are using it just
for that purpose.

A bonus!  I also have a MacBook pro laptop but not sure about using it.
Guess I should stick with windows.

Not necessarily. You could put Logic on it, or go all out for
ProTools. With each of those comes a new set of accessibility
challenges and headaches, so unless you have nothing else to do all
day but fiddle with DAW's, I'd stick with the Windows solutions if I
were in your shoes. But hey, who knows, exposure to the Macintosh way
of doing things may turn you away from Windows, as it has with a few
people I know.

This will be happening in the next year or 2 so maybe desktop drive prices
will go down.

That's a virtual guarantee, unless trade deals with China go
completely askew, or there's another one of those factory fires over
there that stops manufacture of key components for a while until the
factory is rebuilt. Remember that one a few years ago when memory
prices skyrocketed? Some say the fire wasn't real. To this day, I
still wonder.

So I've rambled on long enough, thanks for those who have read this far.
Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  In reading
previous archived posts on this list, there is an incredible amount of
knowledge and experience here which is why I am asking for your assistance.

We try, Jay, we try. LOL. Hope my interspersed thoughts were of help.
