Sweet Mince and Apple Squares
I had a Jar of Seet mincemeat dated August 2022 so decided to use it up!
I peeled and cored one large BRAMLEY Apple and cut it into small pieces then
mixed it with the mincemeat!
Mage the pastry then made up the tray to cut into squares! Real treat at this
time of the year !
Preheat oven to 170 Celsius fan
Ingredients
250 g (10 ozs) plain flour
50 g (2 ozs( icing sugar
125 g (5 ozs) butter
1 large free-range egg
1 splash of milk
Heres what to do
I use the mixer. Easier for me.
Sieve your flour and icing sugar into the bowl.
Add the butter and continue to mix until your mix resembles fine crumbs
Beat the egg with the milk, then add the mixture and gently mix it together
until it forms a ball of dough.
Remember not to mix the pastry too much at this stage or it will become elastic
and chewy, not crumbly and short.
Sprinkle a little flour over the dough, pat into a flat round about 2.5cm
thick, then srinkle over a little more flour, and wrap the dough in clingfilm.
Put it into the fridge to rest for at least 30 minutes.
Bake for around 40 - 50 mins at 170 Celsius Fan oven copied to clipboard
