Hi Eamon:

The easiest way to do this is as follows:

1.  get yourself into some kind of edit field.  You could open a text
message or something.
2.  The setting you want is in the rotor once you're in an edit field.  so
using two fingers on the phone turn them like you're turning the dial on an
old radio till you hear "typing mode".
3.  now flick one finger down the phone from top-to-bottom.

Should do the trick.
