I hope that audio CAPTCHA has improved since I joined Facebook a few years ago. Too much and too loud background noise then.

Hi Sabrina

There seem to be mixed views as to how useful Facebook is to a screen reader
user.

I was on facebook for a while and, I was able to use the mobile site

m.facebook.com

quite successfully. It is fine if you want to use it for posting text and
just keeping in touch with other people.

There are features that aren't accessible such as the many applications but,
if you use the mobile site, you will avoid that side of it.

I use Twitter now and like it a lot as it is all text based but, I would say
that more of my friends are on Facebook than Twitter.

Hi

I feel I should defend the honour of FB.

Admittedly, I am not a JAWS user, so I accept there might be issues there,
but if you can find a way to get on, I would recommend it. It's very
interactive; it lets you form proper relationships with people, rather than the piecemeal approach used by Twitter. You'll find loads of people on it you haven't seen in ages. And I just use Facebook for posting up text, so it should be feasible for you to have a good time on Facebook doing the same.

It's worth exploring for yourself anyway.

Nicky, Here Here! Facebook is a complete and utter waste of time.
Especially if your using the m.facebook.com site. You have no access to apps, messaging or any of the other features that has made Facebook popular. The only thing you really have is the wall. And, you may as well just use
twitter for that. With Qwitter, it makes things much easier.

Hi Sabrina, if you want my advice I would stay away from it. The site
itself is absolutely useless for blind people. I would go to twitter if
you want a form of social networking.

Cheers, Nicky.
