Yakitome.com, a free service which, after registration, lets you
convert text into audio files, this time using voices from AT&T, for
playing on a portable device. English, French and Spanish are
supported.

gives you a choice of good-quality voices in American and British
English, French and Spanish. The maximum allowed file size is rather
